One blessed family at a time

Food isn’t what it used to be. These days food typically travels 1,500 miles from the farm to the store, which decreases the nutrient/mineral content. Plus, when the food is cooked it decreases this content even more, soil isn’t as rich anymore and when a persons body is constantly eating depleted food, we in turn feel depleted. I have a family history with dementia, diabetes, obesity and more, and I don’t want that for myself or my family.

I finally found something that I trust for myself and my family and my other loved ones to supplement the lack in our modern food. This company is AMAZING! They hit home to 6 common issues we in America deal with, Sleep, Inflammation, Brain health, Weight issues, Energy, and help with the nutrient gap from depleted food. All of these products are scientifically backed and non-GMO and free of the most common allergens! A few weeks back, I wrote about how disappointed I was when I was approached by a company looking for health coaches and claiming they were helping people get healthy via great supplements. Well, this was so far from the truth, HOWEVER, just last week, I heard from an old friend about a company she is with. Moment by moment

Anyone have someone in their life that you wish you could just change a little bit? Maybe just one or two qualities that you really just want to tweak a bit? For me, before I started the course, Year of Manifestation, I wanted to change my husband. Not a lot! Just like I said above, just a little tweak! I found it absolutely aggravating every time that he would get on his phone or iPad. Whenever he did this, I felt abandoned. This isn’t his fault, yet for some reason whenever he picked up his device, I felt anger. Silly, I know. I mean, c’mon, I use my phone and iPad, why can’t he?

Well honestly it doesn’t bug me anymore. Maybe its the course, or maybe it’s because I have been monitoring my screen time on my phone recently and noticed that I am very guilty of being on it too much. Way more than I want to be!! How? I added an app called Moment. This free app will tell you how much time is spent on your device each day. It was shocking when I first started using the app. I take online courses so most of the time my time on my phone is scary long, but I usually just subtract the hour long class in the amount that I’m shown for the day. Plus, for $3.99 you can put limits on your usage to decrease time on the screen. I haven’t done this yet, but if my usage stays high, I will. Because who wants to be behind a screen all day? I want to live in nature and with the ones I love!

Not only is this app great for showing your daily screen usage, but it is empowering to know that you can make a change the next day to be a little bit better, to put the device down and just be in the present moment more. Obviously, I have some work to do with my onscreen time – I’ve been researching and learning a lot the last few days.

Anyone else ever use this app before?

WOW! I’m impressed!

Last week, I decided to make some nightshade-free salsa (if you haven’t tried it yet, yum!! please do!) We got quite a crop of carrots last summer and we ended up freezing them in bulk. I grabbed a bag of the carrots and tossed them in a little bit of water to steam cook them. Me, having mama brain and a husband with a headache who listened to his body and went for a nap, I took the kids downstairs so he’d be able to rest easier. My little guy was about to fall asleep maybe 15 minutes later, and when I came upstairs I realized that I still had the carrots on the stove! The bottom of the pan was horribly burned. Thankfully, I was able to salvage enough of the carrots to make the salsa.

 

However, I believed the pan was toast! I soaked and scraped for days and then, I finally got out a cleaner that I didn’t even think to use. Since then, I’ve been using it A LOT because not only was I able to save my trusted little pot, I didn’t have to scrape it clean! The cleaner was sprayed into the pot and left for a day and when I looked at it the next day, the burned crusted layer peeled away from the pot!! The best part, is that its a non-toxic cleaner! A vicious cycle to break

As a mother, I want my children to succeed in life. How grateful I am that I now know that for that to happen, I need to allow my children’s light to shine down their own path. I also am learning that the most important way to do that it to raise myself rather than my kids. Yes, you read that right.
Our beautiful and pure children are here to help us heal by mirroring to us our behaviors, which are typically an immature response to our growing children (sometimes it’s anyone who we are in a close relationship with).
How do we expect children to behave a certain way when their models don’t know appropriate ways to react to certain situations.
I’m learning that the way that I react, or even worse when I try to control my child’s behavior the shit hits the fan. First with them and then with me.
What helps is when I have taken care of myself via enough sleep, enough movement(exercise), daily meditation and consciously checking in with my internal awareness of my feelings.
I know I’ve been writing a lot about this topic recently, but it is our job as parents to make sure that we don’t take our shit out on our kids. When we do this, it scares them, it shames them, it slowly dims their light (their authenticity) and then they become lost adults who repeat this cycle with their kids. Children are so impressionable and they know what they need because their intuition hasn’t been battered like ours has through time.
